Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik.

FUNCTION & DUTIES:

Reporting to the Director of Material Resources, the position of Assistant Director of Material Resources entails the performance of duties required for the coordination, supervision, evaluation and development of the programs and activities pertaining to the management and optimal use of the material resources of the school board.  The main responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the planning and coordinating the implementation, development and application of the rules and procedures related to preventive maintenance, physical maintenance and upkeep and energy management of all the school boards structures;
  • Participate in the construction, improvement, extension and renovation projects of school board structures;
  • Supervise and define the rules and procedures related to purchases, supplies and inventory control;
  • Participate in developing the objectives and strategies of the school board dealing with material resources and collaborate with other staff members in determining the annual action plan;
  • Implement the policies dealing with the conversion and use of premises and equipment;
  • Collaborate with other staff members in promoting and applying occupational health and safety rules;
  • Assist the administrators of the institutions and administrative units of the school board;
  • Any other related duty assigned by the Director of Material Resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree in mechanical engineering;
  • Five (5) to Eight (8) years of relevant experience.

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Member of “l’Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec”;
  • Building maintenance experience is an asset;
  • Bilingual English and French (spoken and written);
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities;
  • Must be willing to travel in Nunavik as required.

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

Class 8 as per the working conditions of managers; from $89 924 to $119 896 annually depending on school size, qualifications and experience.
